As you may have noticed we’ve had a very busy summer here at Wix instituting a number of big features such as: comments, the matrix gallery, eCommerce, upload/download documents and many more. However there are still significant updates ahead that we’re planning and we’d like to share with you.
Based on feedback you’ve supplied via the Wix forum and support calls we’ve spent a lot of time thinking of updates that will considerably improve your sites.
So what’s coming up?
Server Side Performance
Performance is the biggest issue for a rapidly growing internet company and Wix is no exception to the rule. This is our top priority. We’ve made many improvements during the last 6 months and are tackling it on all fronts: during the last couple of months we’ve added global CDN, tripled our servers and are now using 24 top dell servers for Wix backend infrastructure with more being added on a weekly basis. During the next couple of months we will be doing the following:
- Reducing the size of the viewer.swf – this is the Wix flash program that loads the Wix website, today it is 450K, we are now working on reducing the size to 280K.
- Better compression of PNG
- A major upgrade to our hosting software, which will reduce the amount of calls needed to load your sites
- Remove wix.monitor and static.wix.com
Once we’ve achieved these goals, we will be adding the following:
HTML Component
Adding HTML has been tricky due to security, flash, Java script, browser and OS version compatibility issues, we’ve been working on it on and off for the better part of the last 6 months. So far we’ve completed 3 rounds of pioneers “beta” testing which helped iron out the bugs and tweak the offering. I’d like to thank our fantastic Wix pioneers group for all their great input. Follow the Wix pioneers forum here.
On that note, we’re still experiencing a key problem with Flash technology being incompatible with HTML and non English keyboards at the same time (the infamous opaque/transparent mode bug by Adobe for you ‘techies’).
Password Private pages/sites
Allowing Wix members to define private websites and private pages.
We’re going to be implementing this towards the end of Q1 2010.
SEO for pages
Wix is the only flash platform that is fully compatible with Google and the other main search engines.
To prove our point and ‘put our money where our mouth is’ – Wix.com is built using the Wix editor just like your sites are. We have some new ideas on how to make your website rank even higher. These features are expected to roll out early 2010.
Changing premium documents & cancellations of premium accounts.
We are adding a premium control panel which will allow you to manage your premium documents without contacting support. This feature is well over due and we apologize to those inconvenienced. Naturally, you’ll still be able to contact our support team for special requests.
Flash Side Performance
Our Flash team’s top priority is elevating the quality of your Wix site. Sleeker graphics, faster performance & better all around quality. As a result your website will look and feel even more professional.
Better performance to the editor and to your sites. Faster editing, and improved loading speeds.
Visual loading of Wix documents.
Yes, the notorious blue bar! We’re working on a solution to give you the ability to choose how it will look. In addition premium members will be able to create their own customized loader.
We are also working on having the HTML background look better while the site is loading (Eliminating the current “jumps” in certain browsers).
Menu, Buttons & Languages.
More options for the menu and better graphics with a lot of new ways to customize them.
Improved selection in the Editor
New ways for selecting objects in the editor: editing objects behind objects, easier grouping and ungrouping and a better ability to manage galleries and mini pages.
Editor Liquidity
The editor is optimized for Hi Resolution. We are now making it liquid – meaning, it will work better on all resolutions, especially on Laptops.
Picture Galleries
We’re revisiting all our galleries to give them a better look and smoother movement. In addition we will be adding lots of new and exciting galleries which we’re sure you’ll love.
Mini page and Slideshow Transitions
We are fixing several bugs and improving overall performance. In addition we are working on the ability to add your own graphics to the transition – a great improvement for branded sites.
Shopping Cart
The shopping cart will be upgraded soon, more currencies, more options for your products (size, colors, etc), visual indication of when an item is added to the cart and more…We won’t be adding all features at once, but improvements will start being introduced soon.
For those of you who’ve been asking about inventory management, that will take much longer. Inventory management is complex, so we’ll probably be adding a 3rd party product in the future, which will take a while to choose and integrate into Wix.

here are some suggestions i would also like:
1. i would love for the user to be able to also import sounds for the button clicks. for now you can add behaviors to a button and make the button activate a stock sound when the cursor rolls over it. i would love to be able to import my own sounds for the roll overs.
2. the ability to export the website to your desktop.
3.integration of HTML and the ability to see source code and edit the website via source code.
4.the ability to format pics like you can in Power Point 07. it would be awesome to format pics and make them curve on all 4 corners. basically just emulate everything with the formating of pics that Power Point 07 offers. it is awesome and i so wish you guys had the same options.
5.the ability to rename all of your pics in a batch process for the intent of SEO.
6, the option to make all flash buttons have invisible html so google can index it and all the pages.
7.more professional backgrounds, more professional buttons, more professional borders, more professional templates that are business oriented to specific niches such as realestate,plumbing,onsite house cleaning, computer repair, etc.
8. unlimited bandwidth for all hosting service packages just like 1&1 has. it should be just as competitive as other hosting services.
9.photo galleries. more of them professional quality
10.WIX database maker with php database integration!

i’m working on it everyday.. even if my site it’s not ready to be published… and i’m waititng to compete it (a long job).. i hope my final result could be great as wix potentials deserves… i’m sure.. i’ll upgrade my site to premium at the end of my work!
any notes.. about usefull future updates..
1) embedding videos.. by emebed code.. is only possible from youtube.. but i have noticed there are a lot of new hight quality sites that could imrpove the choise.. just for example.. http://www.mtvmusic.com/.. and it’s a pity to not be able to use those fonts..
2) it could be usefull to have the possibility to add a newsletter option..
3) and a dropdown menu.. of course

I’m a student from sweden and i’m in my last year in high school. We have to do a project of some kind in order to get our grades. My project is to build a flash website full of insperation for students who don’t have alot of money but still want to live a wonderful life. :)
What i’m saying is: i put my own grades on the line, when i trust that wix is gonna make my website look AMAZING! And so far… well… i’m not complaining. :)
In short: I really do love wix and i do sit for hours trying to make my website look it’s best.
Ps. When i’m in my slideshow gallery and i’m klicking on the down button on the last picture of the album… it won’t go to the top. So i have to klick on the up button like 100000 times before i get to the top with the last picture that i added to the slideshow.
Can you guys somehow make it really easy for me (and many others i think) and just make it possible to add a new picture and make it appear on the top of the list. Not at the end?
It’s the same thing with the menu. If you have many kategories and want to move the last one that you added (because you added a new page) then you have to klick on the up button 10000 times before you get to the top.
So what i wish for christmas is for me to have the ability to fly and to klick on the down button once to make a picture or a page (of the minipages) to apper on the top. Not on the upp button 10000 times to get to the top. :D

One feature that is in my head from day one is the implementation of a calendar. This seems to be something easy to have as you guys have many others advance features but no calendar. Moreover, since we can’t embed a google calendar or anything like that then it leaves us with no option for calendar. Thank You for everything.

For 8 years it has been my dream to build my own website and until a computer guy told me about you in mid-September ‘09 I was under the control of an unreasonable webmaster who wanted big money to edit anything on my old site. It would be great to have an FLASH/HTML EXPORT feature to use your system as a flash/html editor and be able to use stuff elsewhere, OR edit in another program and then bring back.

Thanks for the eMail. All of the upcoming projects sound very on point with my wants after using Wix.com. The most important things to me would be the Html functionality/Html editor and being able to copy & paste in my own code. Also being able to add my own image files for use through the website (background, header images, etc.). I downloaded this amazing website template and can not use it in the interface as is :(

WIX rocks what if JAVA or html programs could be UPLOADED then created on its OWN page. Interlinked to the main frames of FLASH pages… or like IM doing I pay for two hosting sites… So one can be flash and the other can be html WIZARD accessed, Ive noticed WIX takes a TIME to load with the wizard and microsoft front page runs a tad faster for web masters who like to add THINGS to make the web easy. WIX gets 98% rating from ieDial.com where as Microsoft front page still ranks 99% rating due to JAVA can be loaded threw hosted domains…

The option to use Google Checkout over Paypal would be a GREAT additional to Wix! Any chance of that happening anytime soon? I’ve never been truely happy to Paypals services, but have found Google Checkout to much more easy to work with.

First off bravo Wix!!! We need this stuff badly (especially the HTML). Here are a few things I would like.
1. PHP data base builder w/ a community editing interface
2. A calendar. like on car rental companies. Basically you open a visual of a calendar then the user can select a date and it automatically puts the date in text for you.
3. More Fonts
4. More clip art
5. The ability to make your site a social network (this would be friggin awesome!)

For about a 3/4 of a year I am trying to get an answer from you about the possibility of using Czech letters in Wix – I really like the probram and I am planning to build not only my own website, but also some websites of my cliets with Wix, but this is impossible without Wix having solved this problem – I could not write these Czech letters (and obviously their capitel form) – ě, č, ř, ž, ď, ť, ů. If they are not displayed correctly, it is e, c, r, z, d, t with so-called hooks above them and u with a small circle above it. You are adding so many cool thing to Wix, this should be almost no problem to you, why it is not possible to add some fonts that could use these letters?

Really love the Wix idea. I was able to get my CG portfolio site up in less then two days because of this. As a suggestion, I’d really love to upload my Reels directly to your site, instead of going through 3rd party sites like YouTube and Metecafe. That would allow me to upload higher quality videos which is important for potential employers who view my work.

Thanks Wix. I really enjoy being able to create my own website. After Geocities announced that they were shutting down, I panicked until I found your site. It was very easy to transfer my website to yours. It literally only took me days instead of weeks. Thanks for an easy transition. I love the fact that you will be adding html. That is good because I like to be able to add a guestbook to my page and a counter. Also, is it possible to be able to incorporate music to a specific page without having the music player showing on there? Thanks!!

I take my hat off to WIX. These changes are awesome and for the affordable price you offer, I will continue to point people to your site. It was a GREAT day when I discovered you. I am especially looking forward to the use of flash and html integration and especially the Password Private pages/sites.These changes are making me consider cancelling my other project hosting sites and transfering them all the wix. I would love to be able to freely transfer designs from one host to yours without having to recreate the entire site, so HTML INTEGRATION is great. Looking forward to the membership aspect. Shopping cart is great! It’s just GREAT!

Items I would like to see-
1.) Better quality contact forms, my clients have a hard time reading them as the font is very small. Perhaps create a tool for the user to make their own contact form?
2.) Newsletter option that can be linked to Twitter, Facebook, etc. and e-mailed out as a link to all contacts in a database.
3.) More font options for titles and text
4.) A Blog page option with links for subscription and share options
5.) Domain registration through WIX so both hosting and registration are all in one place.

Wix is the best! I’ve made 2 websites and could do a million…it’s addicting. I just finished our HOA site and everyone thinks I’m a genius…if they only knew ;)
Can’t wait for the new features, especially the password protection. I created my own way around that thanks to user tutorials but it’ll be nice to have a simple one.

Your site is amazing, there really is nothing else like it on the web. One question:
Is there an option for visitors to download/upload images onto your website in the works?
My friends and I, a group of artists and writers, would like to start a collaborative storytelling project that requires upload of images from various artists and text from various writers. Wix.com seems like the perfect platform for this if only there was an upload image option for visitors to the site.

I love the ease in setting up my website although I would have liked to see a few more photographer templates to choose from. My main concern is that you guys use HTML which is being phased out instead of XHTML. It would also be nice to offer (as an option), mobi templates for those of us who are trying to sell via iPhones, etc.

I also agree with the person who said integrating social network into wix. You are already blurring the boundaries, if you integrated a forum, upload option, chat, members option, etc…. basically if you integrate social network capability into your site Wix would take over the world! : D I have been looking at creative collaboration tools (Cozimo,Octopz) and social network building (Ning, Dolphin, Elgg)….. The potential of Wix to be a creative collaboration tool….. ideas boiling- mash it all up for creative professionals please

We are and have been rated #1 of more than 65,000,000 on a google search page. We are sure that “WIX.com” is getting more out of the free advertising than us. We are not complaining about that because they deserve the credit. Our problem is that we are not techies and we don’t know enough about how to make money from our website. We have an “ebook” “hard cover book” and a “cd” on the subject of our website which we would love to and are trying to sell via our website; but as of now we have not made a sale. Can you tell us or advise us on what to do. We would be greatfull.

I think Wix should first work on their customer service. Waiting 2-3 days for a response (many times you NEVER get a response). And when you do it’s not coherent as the responder doesn’t have a good grasp of the English language.
It would be great to get answers to my questions and requests!!!!
Please tell me the phone number and address to the corporate office as well as the principle’s in charge. If I don’t hear back on this question (or many for that matter) I will report Wix to the BBB and blog everywhere about what a disappointing company you are with very weak customer service.

I have several premium plans, for which I am being charged on a monthly basis but for accounting reasons, I need a monthly billing statement from Wix.com, detailing what the charges were for e.g. buscandoambiente.com, tvmusicrecords.com, etc.. Since I will be adding additional sites to my account, I need detailed billing and your current set up, doesn’t offer this feature.

Never wanted to learn that all code stuffs to create a website, but WIX made it for me !!!! thanx you guys, I’m a lazy one.
I’ve no complains except that it doesn’t work so good sometimes on macbook !
and i’ll ask like some others did:
-New fonts or police or possibility to import some.
-New backgrounds more dedicate to business.
-The possibility to change the size of text in buttons.
-The possibility to put the premium access to a different project.
-And the all thing more fluid. ( on a labtop it is somtimes painfully slow )
But it seems like you’re allready doing your best with those new features.

When I was asked to upgrade the church’s website, I had a number of concerns: ease of use; ability to transfer responsibly to someone else who isn’t a developer; broad appeal; hosting; and overall features. Each of these considerations were met by Wix! Great job and hats off to the Wix Team. I would like to see a calendar function and ability to increase/decrease font size on RSS/Twitter controls – accessibility issues.

i really like my website but a deal breaker is the shipping tax thing in the shopping cart. also, yeah, that blue bar is messing up my color scheme. Being able to add things in html format would be amazing. with new changes happening i might actually get to stay…

Hi Wix Team, awesome job thus far, can;t wait for the enhancements and new features! Woudl like to suggest a “Pay by Credit Card” form or template to add to the site, so in addition to the Shopping cart people can make electronic transfers via the website to pay for services. Regards Just

Hi Wix Team, I am a current premium user and I appreciate the service wix is providing. However, I have an issue right now as I have been trying to reach wix for over a week now regarding downgrading from my combo plan to no ads plan. I have heard once from Dana asking me confirmation for the downgrade a day after my email, I have replied immediately but I have not heard from her since. Could you please let me know how my downgrading process has been followed. I have also send a copy of this via email and wix help. My reference ticket ID 65331. Thank you.

Wix team, what a refreshing upfront way to deal with issues of technology! Our site will be out next week in limited private beta and would love to have you all kick out tires since we are entirely in Flash running on Salesforce back-end.
Great job on such a massive roll-out of new features and functionality. We all need people to pave the way for others and I told my team tonight I have found the model to learn from in you all.

I have great idea which will really make the wix company earn tons of money,
and make the users of wix so happy .
We all know about wix is
flash website builder ! but what if it was flash from builder too !!
So wix is two in one…
you maybe got the idea ! you know by adding new par in the wix editor where we can choose the form stuff and drop them in the editor…
So in the same why we are creating website at wix, we can create forms !

One great whish is to be able to transform the shopping chard to ones own language besides english. To the consumer that would look a little more professional when shopping.

I am happy with the idea of wix and the easiness of use but for me it didnt help at all because it did not fulfill any of my needs ,no supoport for arabic languages which is major need for my site and cant verify my site with google which for me at the end is useless and try to find a reasonable solution.But at the end Wix made a good job missing some major issues.

my client’s also love that I could design websites for them in half the price via Wix. Totally support the Wix Revolution! you guys are life savers – literally.

Counter, Calendar & basically everything we see on any other professional website.
What about the e-commerce being able to be used without paypal and linked to bank accounts so people in places like Pakistan can ALSO avail this service since paypal is not offered here….

I love the Wix site builder so much I have started my own company. I am currently attending ECPI tech in Richmond VA…I have won 3 school related contests useing wix as my builder. I love building sites for clients, the D and D cuts down on time when Im doing a site on a time limit for my clients….Keep up the great work…..The *E*Team

Hi !! I am really impressed with the WIX team. The only problem I am facing is my Songs are taking lot of time to load. esp. if i exceed 10 MB size in total. Because of which I had to keep songs / playlists as less as possible. Can this 10 MB limit be increased to 15 or 20 MB. ?
Rest is wonderful and I am very much happy with WIX Team.

The best feature would be to host serve for your clients or automatically work out a deal with Go Daddy, and other hosts that instantly get your premium customers ‘online’ without all the frustration of trying to be found in searches. Other low quality ‘create your own site’ sites such as Yola offer this feature and they can not even compare to Wix! LOL, then you have a second rate site that can be found by everyone…
honestly, being found on the net EASILY is just as important as creating a site easily as well… If I use your service and make an awesome web site and no one can find it, it almost pointless. Some are not as computer literate as others.

Here is what I would like to see:
1) HTML would be huge, I’m glad to see that they are doing it. Can’t wait.
2) The ability to add members to your site
3) The ability to edit the contact form: number of text boxes / what it will ask if one is left empty.
4) A flash calendar (and be able to have the members from idea 2 be able to add to it)
5) Shorter URL for free version. Example: http://www.sitename.wix.com

I think this is the best sitebuilding tool available today.
i have used plesk parelles, rvsitebuilder, network solutions and one other.
wix’s is light years ahead in terms of ease and what the final product looks like.
but the html and ability to scroll pages down with the images is a big need to
complete the conquest. i really hope you can figure it out.
inventory management etc improvements for the ecomm will be good going forward. thats how people can moentize the web so particular focus is needed.
FLASH is the future and the top sites like youtube and myspace use it on their
home pages right now. no doubt facebook and google will too. wix allows us to be ahead of the curve not behind it.

Thanks for the good and most creative work.
My greatest needs are basically two modest ones:
1. The option to create my site in Hebrew.
2. The tools and all the goodies enabling my own blog as part of the site, or a blog styled site, multi-lingual and as rich as Wix offers now and perfects so brilliantly.

I love reading friends post on Facebook, but reading all the post here is 100x more enjoyable. This Wix community is all on the same creative page and I’m blessed to be welcomed as a part of it! I’m a newbee and I want to mention how very grateful I am for all the Wix team is offering us. I too, as another Wix member stated, have dreamed of getting my website(s) designed for a loooooog time but it just seemed so out of reach. Therfore, thank you (Wix) so much for bringing the stars down low enough for me to work with them and also thank you for all of your teams exhaustive work you do to keep making our experience so great : )

Guys…. All these are really nice and great and amazing BUT WE NEED BETTER LANGUAGE SUPPORT!!!!! This is BASIC!!! I have to create a bilingual site (English – Greek) and I can’t. Of course creating images and uploading them is not a solution. There are many Unicode fonts out there… What’s the deal and you don’t support Unicode characters?!?

Wix is already the best but these additions:
‘
-A (my)content manager that would let you delete multiple images simultaniously from your pictures, rename them once uploaded (the actual filename) and organize them in proper folders.
-The ability to create actual landingpages that you can refer to. Example: mywixdomain\subpage
-Landingpages with the ability for their own descriptions, keywords etc. so Google will index them properly (SEO).
-More widgets for social networks, Windows Live, Skype and popular sites like Digg.
-Extended support on Contact form and the addition of at least a newsletter option

Hi Wix Support, thanks for a great and user friendly website template. I have posted suggestions via email in regards to (SEO) optimisation websites with WIX.
These include,
* Separate landing pages
* html coding to allow SEO Adsense and to monitise websites. Can create fantastic 3 way income with html option. I have ranked our site after 3 months to first 3 pages on google and would increase revenue with this added component
* Bookmarking Social Widgets is also a great idea
* Password related pages
I would like to credit WIX support for their prompt customer service. Well done guys. Once these options stated above are added to the WIX interface then you will have a monster building website platforms

I’m thrilled with the matrix gallery! As a wedding photographer, I’m constantly trying to post albums online for couples to review. I’ve tried all of your gallery options, and because I design album pages in two-page spreads, the album gallery doesn’t fit my needs. The matrix gallery has made it easy for couples to review their album without scrolling/clicking through pages in a slider. Adding a title & description, I can tell brides and grooms about any edits I’ve made, why a page looks the way it does, etc. It’s awesome! And because each site is personalized for the couple, I don’t have to send them through loops of websites with usenames & passwords. I stumbled across Wix on a Google side ad last February and I’m sure glad I did! Thanks for all of the updates!
